What is the Ginger G1?
The G1 is a large-format FGF (Fused Granulate Fabrication) 3D printer that prints directly from plastic pellets rather than filament. It is designed to make large parts economically while keeping the workflow accessible to users without extensive industrial 3D printing experience.
What applications is the G1 designed for?
Typical applications include furniture, interior design, lighting, architectural elements, tooling, molds, prototypes, technical parts, art, scenography, research and low-volume production.
Is the G1 an industrial printer?
The G1 is designed for professional and industrial use while maintaining a comparatively simple and accessible workflow.
What is the build volume of the G1?
The G1 has a build volume of approximately 1100 × 1000 × 1050 mm, slightly more than one cubic meter.
Can the G1 print objects measuring 1 × 1 × 1 meter?
Yes. The available build volume is approximately 1100 × 1000 × 1050 mm.
What are the external dimensions of the G1?
The printer itself is approximately 1600 × 1600 × 1800 mm.
How much space should I plan for the printer?
We recommend approximately 3 × 3 meters of working space around the system to allow comfortable operation, material handling and maintenance.
How much does the G1 weigh?
The printer weighs less than approximately 100 kg.
Do you manufacture a 2 m³ printer?
Currently, the G1 is our standard large-format system with approximately 1 m³ of build volume. Please contact us if your application requires substantially larger dimensions so we can evaluate the project.
Can you manufacture a custom-sized G1?
Custom machine dimensions are not part of our standard offering. Contact us with the required part dimensions and application and we can evaluate whether the existing G1 geometry can accommodate the part or whether another approach is possible.
How fast can the G1 print?
The machine's kinematic speed is up to approximately 300 mm/s, but actual printing speed depends heavily on material, geometry, nozzle size, layer height and required surface quality.
Does 300 mm/s mean every part can be printed at 300 mm/s?
No. Maximum machine speed and real production speed are different. Actual print parameters must be selected according to the material and part.
What is the smallest layer height?
The G1 datasheet specifies layer resolution starting at approximately 0.5 mm, depending on nozzle and process parameters.
How long does a large print take?
Print time varies enormously. Large prints can run for many hours or several days depending on part volume, wall thickness, infill, nozzle, layer height and desired quality. Send us a 3D model if you need a realistic estimate.
Can the G1 print unattended?
The automatic pellet feeding system and dryer are designed to support long prints with minimal material-handling intervention. As with any industrial manufacturing equipment, appropriate supervision and operating procedures should still be followed.
Does the G1 have a heated bed?
Yes, the G1 can be equipped with its heated build platform as part of the system configuration.
Does the G1 have an enclosure?
Yes. The current complete G1 system includes an enclosure.
Why is the enclosure important?
It helps stabilize the printing environment, which can improve process consistency and reduce warping for temperature-sensitive materials.
What is the expected lifetime of a G1?
There is no fixed operating-hour lifetime because longevity depends on materials, workload, environment and maintenance. The system is designed to be maintained, repaired and have wear components replaced rather than discarded after a predetermined number of hours.
What electrical supply does the G1 require?
The G1 supports 110–220 VAC configurations. Exact electrical requirements should be confirmed for the ordered configuration and destination country.
How much power does it consume?
Power consumption is approximately 1,500 W, depending on the configuration and operating conditions.
What room temperature does the G1 require?
The datasheet specifies an operating environment of approximately 10–40 °C.
What is the maximum nozzle temperature of the G1?
The G1 can reach nozzle temperatures of up to approximately 300 °C.
What is the maximum heated bed temperature?
The heated bed can reach up to approximately 100 °C.
What temperature does the enclosure reach?
The enclosure typically reaches approximately 45–50 °C during operation. The actual temperature depends on ambient conditions, print settings and operating time.
What is the extrusion rate of the G1?
The G1 extrusion rate is approximately 2–3 kg/h, depending on the material, nozzle, processing parameters and part geometry.
Why don't you specify one fixed maximum extrusion rate?
Because polymer viscosity varies considerably between materials and compounds. The same extruder may process one material at 2 kg/h and another significantly faster. For a production application, Ginger Additive can help estimate realistic throughput using the intended material.
Can the G1 print continuously for several days?
Yes. There is no predefined maximum print duration. With sufficient material supply and appropriate operating conditions, the system can perform multi-day prints.
Which nozzle sizes are available?
Available nozzle sizes are approximately 1.8 mm, 3 mm, 5 mm and 8 mm, allowing users to balance surface detail and production throughput.
Which nozzle should I choose?
Smaller nozzles provide greater detail but lower throughput. Larger nozzles enable thicker layers and significantly faster production. The best choice depends on the part size, geometry, material and required surface finish.
Can I use a 1 mm nozzle?
A 1 mm nozzle is not part of our current standard nozzle range. Contact Ginger Additive if your application requires particularly fine extrusion.
What dimensional accuracy can I expect?
Dimensional accuracy depends strongly on part size, geometry, material shrinkage, nozzle diameter, layer height and printing strategy. Ginger Additive therefore does not recommend using a single universal tolerance value for all G1 prints. If dimensional accuracy is critical, we recommend evaluating the specific part and material through a test print.
Is there a maximum part weight?
We do not currently specify a general maximum printed-part weight for normal G1 applications. If your project involves an unusually heavy part, please contact us so the application can be evaluated.
