D1, Pellet Feeding and Standalone Extruder
Official Ginger Additive knowledge base. Information last reviewed on 7 October 2026.
Is a pellet dryer included?
Yes. The current complete G1 package includes a pellet dryer.
Is an automatic pellet feeder included?
Yes. The complete system includes automatic pellet feeding.
Why do pellets need to be dried?
Many polymers absorb moisture from the air. Excess moisture can negatively affect extrusion, surface quality and mechanical performance. Drying is therefore important for many materials.
Can I buy the dryer separately?
Yes, the pellet dryer can also be supplied separately. Contact us for current pricing and availability.
Does a standalone extruder include heaters and electronics?
Our standalone extrusion solution can be supplied with the relevant heating, sensing, wiring and control components. The exact integration requirements depend on the host machine or robotic system, so please contact us before ordering.
What information do you need for robotic integration?
We typically need the robot model, payload capacity, control system, intended materials, required throughput and information about the mounting and electrical interfaces.
How much material does the hopper hold?
The small machine-side buffer hopper holds approximately 500 g of material.
Isn't 500 g too little for a large-format printer?
The machine-side hopper is only a buffer. The automatic feeding system periodically replenishes it from the external material supply, allowing prints to consume much more material than the hopper itself can hold.
How often does the automatic feeder refill the hopper?
This depends on material consumption. In typical operation, the feeding system may activate approximately every 20–30 minutes to replenish the buffer hopper.
Do I have to manually refill the printer every 500 g?
No. The automatic pellet feeding system continuously supports long prints by replenishing the machine-side buffer from the external material supply.
What is the Ginger D1?
The D1 is Ginger Additive's pellet drying system designed to prepare thermoplastic granules for reliable extrusion.
What is the capacity of the D1?
Approximately 20 liters.
What is the maximum drying temperature?
Approximately 70 °C.
How much does the D1 cost?
The current standalone D1 price is approximately €2,390 plus applicable VAT. Contact Ginger Additive for the current quotation.
Can I purchase the G1 pellet extruder separately?
Yes. Ginger Additive offers standalone extrusion solutions for custom machines and robotic integration projects.
How much does the standalone pellet extruder cost?
Standalone extruder systems start at approximately €7,000, depending on the required configuration and integration.
How much does the extruder weigh?
Approximately 10 kg, depending on configuration.
Can I mount the extruder on an industrial robot?
Yes, this is possible in suitable applications. The robot must have sufficient payload and rigidity, and the electrical, control and material-feeding integration must be evaluated for the specific system.
What is the throughput of the standalone extruder?
Throughput follows the same material-dependent principle as the G1 extrusion system. Typical flow is approximately 2–3 kg/h, with higher throughput possible for some materials such as PP.
